Slippery Elm Bark **This botanical is on the endangered list. Please use it wisely. ** Slippery Elm Bark has been used as a demulcent, emollient, expectorant, diuretic, and nutritive. The bark of this American Elm, though not in this country as in the United States an official drug, is considered one of the most valuable remedies in herbal practice, the abundant mucilage it contains having wonderfully strengthening and healing qualities. It not only has a most soothing and healing action on all the parts it comes in contact with, but in addition possesses as much nutrition as is contained in oatmeal, and when made into gruel forms a wholesome and sustaining food for infants and invalids. It forms the basis of many patent foods. Slippery Elm Food is generally made by mixing a teaspoonful of the powder into a thin and perfectly smooth paste with cold water and then pouring on a pint of boiling water, stirring steadily. It can, if desired, be flavored with cinnamon, nutmeg or lemon rind. Wild-harvested. |

Catnip- Medicinal Herb Use - Catnip is named after the attraction that cats have for nipping this plant. It seems to affect them as an aphrodisiac and a euphoric. Its smell is similar to the pheromones that cats secrete. Catnip doesn't cause any such behavior in humans, and is particularly beneficial because of its excellent nutritional properties. Catnip has soothing and relaxing effects on the digestive system, relieving diarrhea, flatulence, indigestion, upset stomach and headaches. Certified Organic. |
FYI-
- It is important to remember that the rule of thumb is for any herbal remedy for your pet is two weeks on, one week off. That gives their body time to assimilate the herbal remedy, and gives you time to determine if the herbal treatment needs to be continued. There are exceptions to this rule, as with all rules, as with herbs that take a while to build up in the body to be effective.
- Administering several doses throughout the day, rather than one big dose once a day will speed the herbs into your pet's system and boost the immune system much faster. And as with us, no herb should be given to any animal on a continuous basis. Like us, their bodies will begin to build immunity, and once that happens, that herb becomes useless medicinally.
